Days in Egypt

What an adventure so far! I have been in Egypt for 4 months and a few days. I have a 2-year teaching contract at my school. When I first came to Egypt, my thinking let's live day by day and see what happens. So, far I love it here. I feel at home. I do miss my family, especially my daughter (in university) but knew this was a good move and decision for me. Life in Egypt is easy (maybe because I live in a good neighborhood).  I have finally made girlfriends.

I had a hard time making friends in Southern California, not that I did not have girlfriends its just hard to travel about in California. All the traffic, no one wanted to travel and sit in traffic for hours to get somewhere on the weekend. There was always an excuse not to see each other. Here in Egypt there really are no excuses. I know we will get together eventually. Egyptians are very people oriented people. They love to socialize! It's so nice to have girlfriends again. While I was living in California I hung out with my ex-boyfriend/ best friend all the time.

 EGYPT

Who doesn't want to come here and experience the culture? I have wanted to experience Egyptian culture for like forever. And now I am in the middle of it! Loving it! I am in the heart of Alexandria, Egypt, sitting by the Meditteranean Sea.  What a magnificent Sea!

North Coast, Egypt! The most beautiful beach I have ever laid eyes on. It was Heaven! Have you ever seen something so amazing?! I spent a couple hours here...unfortunately have not gone back. It's winter time here now and too cold by the Sea. But I will be visiting soon again. Going soon to Dahab, Egypt, for New Years.

Days in Egypt

I love Egypt! I arrived August 16th, 2018 at 2 AM. I never knew how amazing it would be to be here.
The day I decided that it was my time to finally start my journey of travel; I would finally experience another world. However, that meant leaving my daughter (college age) behind, but she was in good hands. She is studying at one of the best universities in California, happily making her life there, doing what she loves. I knew it was okay to leave. I had her blessing.

I landed a teaching job after only a month deciding to move to Egypt. I felt it was fate. The school that I work for takes very good care of me. I have amazing benefits and paid well. It is a very well run school. I feel like I finally have a great team to work with and that I am apart of something great.

I teach 22 wonderful little people. I love each one of them like they are my own. The best time of the day is morning when my kids see me and they run down the hall to give me lots of hugs! I just adore each one of them and I feel so honored that to be their teacher.

I found teaching later in my life, but so thankful I found it. It's a very fulfilling job.  It gives me the variety I need to keep my interest in a job and always enjoyed working with people and helping them. So, why not little people. I love that I have touched their lives and their parents. I received the greatest compliment before Christmas break. I went to one of my students birthday parties and the parents told me they were thankful for me teaching their kids. I had one parent ask if I would teach their child next year in Year 1. I laughed, maybe but I really enjoy teaching kindergarten (Foundations 2 - FS2).
